Morgan De Dapper: Geo-archeologie: Mens en milieu in het verleden. Onderzoek in Egypte
Geo-archeologie bestudeert de relatie tussen mens en milieu in het verleden, wat naast archeologie een inbreng van verschillende disciplines in het domein van de geo-wetenschappen, vooral geo-morfologie, impliceert. Geomorfologie laat toe het paleo-milieu van archeologische sites te reconstrueren. Zij laat ook toe de erosie-, transport- en accumulatieprocessen in te schatten die het patroon van de bewaarde sites beïnvloeden en tevens een rol zullen spelen bij het conserveren ervan.
Aan de hand van eigen onderzoek in Egypte wordt de geo-archeologische aanpak geïllustreerd. Sites uit de Nijldelta, de Nijl-vallei en de Kharga oase in de westelijke woestijn komen aan bod.
